The International Coaching Community (ICNLP)

ICNLP was founded in 2001 with the aim of quality-assuring certification training in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) according to a common international standard. This standard means, among other things, that you can work anywhere in the world with the professional recognition and common standard that the certificate gives you.

About the founders
Joseph O’Connor is one of the most well-known and respected NLP and coach trainers in the world. He was also the first outside the USA to write a book about NLP. The number of books is now up to 20 and several have been translated into Swedish. Andrea Lages is an internationally recognized NLP trainer, management consultant, business trainer and coach trainer. Both have long and solid experience in both training in NLP and coaching both individuals and large organizations based on the NLP concept.

ICNLP
Since 2007, ICNLP’s activities have been represented, offering affiliation, service and a platform for NLP trained people who have completed certification training according to ICNLP’s standards. ICNLP Norden also provides course materials, trainer instructions and consultancy services for the implementation of training and issues certificates after successful certification.

Norms, Ethics and Guidelines
ICNLP's purpose is to offer a template of norms, ethics and guidelines for the implementation of certification training in NLP as well as guidelines and eligibility requirements for certification.

  • ICNLP Norms cover the guidelines for performance that are directed at others.

  • ICNLP Norden's Code of Ethics are guidelines for action and constitute the broad guidelines that members use in their contact with others.

The ethics and norms form a framework within which ICNLP members are free to express themselves.

Certification Standards
ICNLP's certification standards consist of criteria and guidelines for certification training at three levels;

Practitioner, Master and Trainer.
These criteria also cover what a participant must know and be able to demonstrate at each level to be approved and certified. The guidelines cover three essential areas: knowledge, competence and action.

NLP is a complex field that has grown rapidly over the past twenty years. We believe that there is a minimum requirement in terms of hours, performance and quality that needs to be spent to reach each stage of NLP. It takes time to train and master valuable skills. That is why we set a minimum of 120 hours at each training level.

“Knowledge of the content of NLP can be learned quickly. Mastery of NLP is an ever-ongoing journey.”
